The Research Data Centre (FDZ) of the Federal Employment Agency at the Institute for Employment Research

The Research Data Centre (FDZ) of the German Federal Employment Agency (BA) at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) is intended mainly to facilitate access to BA and IAB micro data for non-commercial empirical research using standardised and transparent access rules. The FDZ mediates between data producers and external users. We also control for compliance with data protection regulations.

EGS: German Job Vacancy Survey of the IAB – new version now available
The German Job Vacancy Survey of the IAB is a cross sectional survey that is carried out by the Institute for Employment Research in Nuremberg (IAB). Data currently provided by the FDZ cover information from the fourth quarter 2005 to the third quarter 2010.

SIAB: English documentation of the SIAB scientific use file now available
Now the documentation of the 'SIAB' scientific use is also available in English. The Sample of Integrated Labour Market Biographies (SIAB) is a 2 percent random sample of individuals in Germany which either have been employed subject to social security, have received benefits, or have officially been registered as job-seekers.

KombiFiD:  'Kombinierte Firmendaten für Deutschland - Möglichkeiten und Konsequenzen der Zusammenführung von    Unternehmensdaten unterschiedlicher Datenproduzenten' - FDZ Methodenreport 05/2012
In the project 'Combined firm data for Germany' (KombiFiD) firm data from different institutions were merged and made available for research for the first time. This paper provides an overview of the objectives associated with the project and its progress.

Item non-response is a non-trivial challenge to the quality of survey data. The report 'Multiple imputation of household income in the first wave of PASS' by Ursula Jaenichen and Joseph W. Sakshaug summarizes the results of a project aimed at using multiple imputation to complete the variable 'household income' in the first wave of the 'Panel Arbeitsmarkt und Soziale Sicherung' (PASS).

IAB Establishment Panel Survey - User conference in Nuremberg from 18-19 October 2012
Celebrating the 20th birthday of the IAB Establishment Panel Survey, a user conference will be held at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg from 18-19 October 2012. Researchers are invited to send in their empirical contributions on the basis of the IAB Establishment Panel and the Linked-Employer-Employee data of the IAB.

Festive Opening of FDZ location in Berlin


On 30 March 2012 Stefan Bender (FDZ), Dr. Ulrike Rockmann (Chairman of the State Statistical Institute Berlin-Brandenburg) and Univ.-Prof. Dr. rer. oec. Gert G. Wagner (Chairman of the Executive Board of DIW Berlin) opened the new FDZ location at the DIW Berlin (photo: from left to right). This is located at the Research Data Centre of the Statistical Offices of the Länder at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin).
