Data products offered by FDZ include data from administrative sources – e.g. notifications of employers to the social security institutions and data from the operative processes of the Federal Employment Agency (BA) – as well as survey data. The level of investigation comprises individuals, households and establishments and the merger thereof.
Administrative data
At the IAB social security notifications of employers and process-generated data of the BA are subsumed into the Integrated Employment Biographies (IEB) data set. The IEB include individual labor market biographies in Germany from 1975 onwards. The FDZ offers access to these data in the form of the Sample of Integrated Labour Market Biographies (SIAB). Additionally, administrative establishment data is generated by aggregating the individual employment histories (Establishment History Panel, BHP).
Survey data
The FDZ provides access to data from various surveys of individuals, households or establishments. These surveys are either conducted by IAB itself or by external researchers. Of particular importance are the longitudinal surveys of the IAB: IAB Establishment Panel (BP), Panel Study Labour Market and Social Security (PASS) and German Job Vacancy Survey of the IAB.
Linked data
The FDZ links administrative and survey data in different ways and thereby increases the analytic potential of the data significantly. Among other things, the FDZ creates integrated establishment and individual data, allowing for simultaneous analysis of the supply and demand side of the German labour market. The Linked-Employer-Employee-Data of the IAB (LIAB), for example, combine interviews from the IAB Establishment Panel with the IEB.
