The Sample of Integrated Employer-Employee Data (SIEED): SIEED 7523, Version 1

DOI: 10.5164/IAB.SIEED7523.de.en.v1

Summary

The Sample of Integrated Employer-Employee Data (SIEED) is based on a 1% sample of all German establishments covered by the IAB Employment History (BeH) as of 30 June, dating back to 1975 (and to 1992 for East Germany). From 1975 to 1998, this comprised all establishments with at least one employee subject to social insurance contributions. From 1999 onwards, the sample also includes establishments with no employees subject to social insurance contributions, provided they have at least one marginal employee. The entire employment biographies of all people ever employed in the sampled establishments are made available over the entire period, with only employer notifications taken into account. Employment biographies can be tracked for these individuals down to the day, even when they change jobs before or after becoming an employee in one of the sampled establishments. Additionally, the data includes administrative establishment information from the Establishment History Panel (BHP) for all establishments.
