IAB-SOEP Migration Sample (IAB-SOEP MIG)

The IAB-SOEP Migration Sample is a household survey conducted yearly since 2013 jointly by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg and the German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) Berlin. The target group are households and persons that migrated to Germany since 1995 and their descendants, hence 2nd and 3rd generation migrants. The IAB-SOEP Migration Sample  aims to gain for these population group representative information for analyses on migration and integration relevant research questions with a special focus on the migrants‘ labour market integration. The first ten survey waves have been carried out between 2013 and 2022, with yearly between about 2,000 and 5,000 persons taking part. The survey has partly been financed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the questionnaires are similar to those of the GSOEP survey “Living in Germany”. Please find more detailed information on the dataset in the outline.

In addition, the data product SOEP-CMI-ADIAB, in which the survey data were linked with administrative data from the IAB, is available via the FDZ of the BA at the IAB.
