Arbeitsmarkspiegel: Entwicklungen nach Einführung des Mindestlohns (Ausgabe 7)
Abstract
"The Arbeitsmarktspiegel shows important developments in the German labour market since the introduction of the statutory minimum wage in Germany. For the seventh edition, data until June 2018 are available. Based on the long observation period, we can distinguish between short-term and longer-term changes after the introduction of the minimum wage. During the three years after the introduction of the minimum wage, overall employment has continuously increased. This is mainly due to an increase in employment subject to social security. The number of marginal employees, which had decreased considerably after the introduction of the minimum wage in 2015, has thereafter continued to follow a slightly declining path. We do not find any noteworthy adjustments following the minimum wage increase in 2017. The Arbeitsmarktspiegel also examines developments for specific subgroups of the labour market and includes low-level regional information for 96 spatial planning regions (Raumordnungsregionen). The seventh edition also examines the employment stability of new labour market entrants and finds that the stability has increased slightly during the time period analyzed."
