Virtuelle Forschungsumgebung für die sozioökonomische Berichterstattung

Project duration: 01.06.2012 to 28.02.2014

Abstract

The aim of this project is to develop the prototype of a virtual research environment (VRE), which supports the collaborative evaluation of micro-data from research data centres along the entire scientific service chain in the joint project "Reporting on socioeconomic development in Germany - soeb 3".
A virtual research environment (Virtuelle Foschungsumgebung VFU) will be developed during the development and implementation phase of 21 months. It will contain first collaborative tools which will be tested and applicable in research practice. The development of research infrastructure and qualified scientific research will go hand in hand: The planned project “Reporting on socioeconomic development in Germany" (Berichterstattung zur sozioökonomischen Entwicklung Deutschlands - soeb 3) will serve as the case of actual use for the project based development of the VFU.The project intends to improve prospects of success for new ways of access to microdata. Further tasks for development with regard to including remote data access in an extended version of the VFU will be specified. The aim of the project is to acquire solutions of general interest for quantitative empirical research beyond the research cooperation “Reporting on socioeconomic development in Germany “. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
